Want to run a successful business? Being an entrepreneur nowadays is the “cool” thing. Anyone can put the title of Entrepreneur on their Instagram bio but what is really behind it? What does it take?
Hard work.
That is not to dissuade you from running a business, but it is the reality. Luckily, I will share my top five tips over the years of running my blog/brand. I got you!
1. Start a business with purpose.
More than likely you have heard to do what you are passionate about, right? I agree with that statement but lately, I have given this more thought.
If you can merge your career with your purpose, now you are really on to something really special.
2. Listen.
To run a successful business, you have to solve an issue for people. Find a problem and solve it. In order to do that, you have to listen to your audience, clients, employees, whoever you are serving through your business.
Listening is the only way to find out what people are really needing in their lives that you can fulfill with your business!
3. First impressions are EVERYTHING!
I had to learn the hard way. When I first started my blog, I attended a blogging conference where I came across women who were running their businesses for years. I felt like a small fish in a big pond.
What is the first thing you need when you are meeting people in a network setting? Business cards.

How cute are these?!
Let’s just say mines were not the best. They were bland, not special. I wouldn’t remember myself if I had a stack of business cards by the end of the conference.
You may think it is just a business card, but this is your first impression in someone else’s pocket essentially.
At the end of the day, or conference in my case, when someone is deciding what individuals they want to keep in contact with or what contact to toss, that business card is all they have to remember you.
Make it memorable, have cool business cards!
I’ve teamed up with Basic Invite because I knew my mom bosses out there are going to benefit from a revamp on their business cards!
They have amazing products from invitations to stationery, but I really want to focus on their business cards because they have honestly been the most fun business cards I have seen.
Basic Invite is one of the few sites that allow you almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. Once you choose to design your business cards, you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 color options as well as foil card options so you can make sure the card is EXACTLY how you want it!
What is unique and amazing about Basic Invite is that they allow you to order a printed sample so you can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before you ever place your final order.
Below are the ones I chose, and I am absolutely obsessed with them!! I can’t choose which one I like the best. What is your favorite?

4. Take care of your health; physical and mental.
Running a business can be stressful. Stay hydrated, eat well, and mentally take care of yourself. Set aside time for this. Your body is a machine, and your business cannot run without it. Respect it and take care of it.
5. Don’t be afraid to say no.
Once success picks up, you may be asked to extend yourself to other projects and things whether it is personal, or business related. Do not put your business second because you are not capable of saying no.
Also, a note on authenticity. If anything does not feel genuine to you or your business be prepared to say no, regardless of the price offered. Being genuine and authentic pays off in the long run.
As always, ask any questions down below and I hope you take advantage of the Basic Invite promo!
