Hey there, friends! I’m Mary and I am so excited you came across my blog! I started Motherhood Happened with hopes of providing valuable information to other women, to have a creative outlet, and to do something for myself which is extremely limited in a day with a toddler. 😊
I am passionate about living a healthy, positive, stress-free life, and helping others do the same! I met my best friend and the father of my child, PJ, through my older sister ten years ago, and I could not be more grateful. We were blessed with our son, Jet, and it’s the happiest I have ever been. Jet is an incredible boy with such a beautiful soul. I never knew how obsessed I could be with a little human being in my entire life!
PJ is a Certified Personal Trainer and part of the Army National Guard. He has taught me much of what I know in the realm of fitness and nutrition. I gained an interest in fitness in college but did not devote the time I should have until I became pregnant. Worrying about midterms and finals came first to heading to the gym. I see now there was no need to separate the two however, that took time to learn. I learned that eating well and training benefits my overall day rather than take away, especially my mental health.
Currently I am a single mom (yes, PJ is still my best friend, I love him tremendously and we co-parent very well … it is possible) and have finally found the balance between maintaining my health, blogging, running a household, and assuring my son is the healthiest he can be. It took a long time for me to get to this place, and even though I am far from perfect, I look forward to sharing my journey and experiences with you. Having Jet has pushed me to new levels of existence I never knew I could reach. I can only hope to inspire, motivate, and enrich my readers (consider yourself friends : ) lives through my content. My goal is for you to not just be in awe of what you read, but truly feel like you can join me and continue reaching towards your full potential too!
5 Things You May Not Know About Me
1. I’m known to be too nice.
Just about anyone who knows me well would say I am too nice to people. I understand they are only trying to protect me and I recognize how it can be a downfall. To me though, it is not a downfall. It is genuinely part of my nature to be kind to people. Some may call it naive, some may it perceive it as being fake, but I really do not know any other way of being. I have been this way as far as I can remember. I am an empathetic person and almost always, if not always, put others before myself. It may end up being a negative thing in some situations, but I would never regret being kind to someone. Ever.
2. I only have sisters.
I have one older sister and two younger sisters. They are all so different and enhance my life in their own way. Our sisterhood is incredible, it is truly unexplainable. It’s nice to have siblings who truly understand you in a way no one else possibly can.
3.I’m kind of a nerd.
I mean that in the best way. I’m studious, inquisitive, and really have a passion for education. I’m mindful that I will never know most of the information in the world but that won’t deter me from trying.
4.Having a drug-free birth has been the most significant event in my life.
It unlocked a power within me I never recognized. It showed me how powerful the mind is and how beautiful my body is. It was amazing. You can learn more about my experience here.
5. Family is SUPER important to me.
PJ and Jet are my world, they are my life. I would absolutely do anything for those two. They bring so much laughter and smiles to my life. Their independent, rebellious, and extremely silly spirits inspire me. They teach me things daily. I don’t think either one of them will ever know how much I love them.
